$60 Million Locks Pelle Larsson Through Four Years in Miami

Miami locked Pelle Larsson on a four-year extension worth up to $60 million with a mutual option for 2030-31, starting at about $13.5 million in 2027-28 after his 11.4-point / 54-start jump, so he never reaches restricted free agency next summer.

Miami locked Pelle Larsson on a four-year extension worth up to $60 million.

The deal starts at about $13.5 million in 2027-28, climbs from there, and carries a mutual option for 2030-31, so the second-round wing never reaches restricted free agency next summer after a season of 11.4 points and 54 starts in 70 games.

Shams Charania reported the agreement Friday, citing agents Austin Brown and Steven Heumann. Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press filled in the ladder: $13.5 million to open the new block, ascending salaries, and the full $60 million only if both sides keep the option year. Larsson still has one season left at about $2.3 million on the team option Miami already exercised. Buy the four years now and the Heat freeze a glue wing under the mid-level band while Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, and the rest of the reloaded room settle into camp. Wait for RFA and the same player walks into a market that already paid Quentin Grimes and Nickeil Alexander-Walker about $60 million over four years as free agents.

The tape that sold the raise is ordinary in the box score and loud on the help. In 2025-26 Larsson played 70 games, started 54, and put up 11.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 26.4 minutes on .496/.323/.797. That is nearly a seven-point jump from his rookie line of 4.6 points in 55 games. He ranked among Miami's top offensive-efficiency names and finished in the top ten in charges drawn. Spoelstra keeps pointing at the cuts, the charges, and the dirty possessions. The Heat are paying that habit, not a Summer League shooting spike.

Count the draft math. Houston took him 44th in 2024 and flipped the rights to Miami on draft night. Second-round paper usually dies in the G League. This one became a 54-start wing in year two and then a four-year commitment before the RFA window opened. Nikola Jovic's prior four-year, $62.4 million Heat extension sits next to it on the sheet. Spotrac and local reporting put Larsson's new AAV under the projected non-taxpayer mid-level for 2027-28. Miami is not matching Amen Thompson money. Miami is buying the wing who already starts when the half court stalls and still has one cheap year left.

The roster around him is the real sequel. Tyler Herro and Jaime Jaquez Jr. left in the Giannis package. Klay Thompson arrived off the Dallas buyout. Davion Mitchell and Bam still need a third body who can take a charge, throw a lob, and finish the drive when the star draws the double. Larsson's 32.3 percent from three is the hole on the contract. Leave him without a jumper and the $15 million AAV starts to look like a Jovic rerun. Grow the three and the mutual option becomes a bargain on a contender wing who already owns Spo's trust. Sweden already previewed the ceiling this summer: 26 points per game across four World Cup qualifiers, including two 31-point nights against Slovenia and Finland.

Mutual option means both sides have to say yes to 2030-31. Larsson gets certainty through the next half-decade and keeps a soft exit if the jumper never arrives. Miami keeps cost control and a tradeable mid-tier wing contract next to Bam and Giannis. Argue about whether $60 million overpays an 11.4-point line. The franchise already spent the money that says the charges and the starts were enough.

Camp opens with Larsson still on the $2.3 million number for one more year, then the $13.5 million step loads. On nights when Giannis draws the double and Klay spots up, Miami still needs the cut, the charge, and the finish from that wing slot. The extension paid the 54 starts. The next film has to keep matching that bill.
