Stefan Joksimovic started for Baskonia on Tuesday night and scored 12 points in 24:33 of a 104-86 loss to Real Madrid. Five days earlier in Athens he had scored 13, a EuroLeague career high, in 19:20 off the bench.

Baskonia, South East Melbourne and Nanterre each gave their 2027 prospect a bigger role this season. Joksimovic's minutes over two EuroLeague games topped his first six rounds combined (by our count). Baskonia gave the 17-year-old 43:53 across those two games after 36:47 across its first six rounds.

Stefan Joksimovic, Baskonia: from spot minutes to a start

Through the first six rounds Joksimovic never played 12 minutes in a game, topping out at 11:23 against Besiktas, and he sat out the loss at Virtus Bologna. He had 8 points in that stretch (by our count).

Then the trip to Panathinaikos on Oct. 22. Off the bench he went 3 of 3 inside the arc, 2 of 6 from three and 1 of 1 at the line, with three assists, a steal and no turnovers. Baskonia lost 85-79, but the team was plus-10 with him on the floor. Against Real Madrid he made the starting lineup for the first time this season and went 3 of 6 from deep with four rebounds, three assists and again no turnovers.

Across the two games he made 5 of 12 threes and committed zero turnovers in 43:53 (by our count). Twelve attempts is a small sample. CBS Sports' Adam Finkelstein ranked Joksimovic No. 3 in his Oct. 17 mock draft and described a jumbo creator who won MVP at EuroCamp and the FIBA U18 EuroBasket this summer but "still has questions to answer about his shooting and defense."

Baskonia is 1-7, with its only win against Milan on Oct. 2. FanSided's Oct. 20 mock ranked Joksimovic No. 2. NBADraft.net's 2027 mock, last updated July 28, ranked him No. 6.

Dash Daniels, South East Melbourne: a green light at 18

Dash Daniels averaged 4.1 points over 35 games for Melbourne United last season (NBL26), per Basketball.com.au, in what Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress called "a quiet rookie campaign." He moved across town to the South East Melbourne Phoenix this offseason, and Josh King has given him a bigger job. This season (NBL27) he is averaging career highs of 13.2 points on 51.7% shooting, plus 5.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.9 steals, per NBL.com.au.

Givony noted this week that Daniels is "attempting 4.6 threes per game at a 36.6 per cent clip."

On Oct. 24 against Adelaide, the Phoenix opened with 42 first-quarter points on 10 of 12 from three, and Daniels hit two of those threes on the way to 18 points, four rebounds and three assists in a 108-94 win. The Phoenix are 4-5 and host Tasmania on Sunday.

NBADraft.net's mock, updated July 28, ranked Daniels No. 50. Finkelstein's Oct. 17 CBS Sports mock ranked him No. 25, citing "renewed optimism" about his offense after early signs in Australia. FanSided's Oct. 20 mock ranked him No. 29. He is the younger brother of Hawks guard Dyson Daniels and withdrew from the 2026 draft, so this is his second pass through the process. In Givony's words, "Still two months shy of his 19th birthday, Daniels is playing his way back into the 2027 NBA Draft conversation."

One more NBL name belongs on the list. Cairns coach Adam Forde planned to play 17-year-old Duke commit Luke Paul five to eight minutes in his Oct. 8 debut and kept him out there for 11 "because he was doing so well," Forde told NBL.com.au. Paul heads to Duke for 2027-28.

Hugo Yimga-Moukouri, Nanterre: starting in Baku

Hugo Yimga-Moukouri turned 18 in July and is already a starter for Nanterre 92 in the Basketball Champions League. On Tuesday in Baku he played 29:40 against Sabah and scored 14 points with six rebounds, 2 of 5 from three and 4 of 8 at the line, in an 87-80 loss. He is averaging 11.0 points through three BCL games, third on Nanterre, per the league.

The French forward, listed at 204 centimeters, told BeBasket this month that he has stopped school to concentrate on basketball in the season before the draft. That interview followed a 19-point, nine-rebound night in 23 minutes against Gravelines.

NBADraft.net's mock, updated July 28, ranked Yimga-Moukouri No. 16. FanSided's Oct. 20 mock ranked him No. 27.

Next games

  • Joksimovic and Baskonia play at ASVEL on Friday.
  • Daniels and the Phoenix host Tasmania on Sunday.

By our count: Joksimovic's 36:47 adds his official EuroLeague minutes from rounds 1-5 (9:04, 8:15, 3:21, 11:23, 4:44; DNP in round 6), and his 8 points are 0, 2, 0, 6, 0. The 43:53 adds 19:20 at Panathinaikos and 24:33 against Real Madrid. The 25 points are 13 plus 12, and the 5 of 12 threes are 2 of 6 plus 3 of 6. Baskonia's 1-7 record comes from its eight official results.
