John Konchar signed a two-year deal with Olympiacos on Thursday, his agency GSL Sports Group announced and the club confirmed. The 30-year-old wing leaves the NBA after 363 regular-season games, 65 starts and seven seasons, three weeks after the Knicks waived him out of training camp.

His NBA line

Konchar's career line: 4.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists a game, 34.9 percent from three.

He got there the long way. Undrafted out of Purdue Fort Wayne in 2019, he spent six and a half seasons in Memphis, most of it alongside Ja Morant, before the Grizzlies traded him to Utah in February.

His 2025-26 season

Across 56 games in 2025-26 with Memphis and Utah, he averaged 4.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.9 minutes, shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 28.3 percent from three. In 26 games with Utah, he put up 5.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals a night.

A summer as a line item

Then the offseason turned him into salary math. On Aug. 28-29, Utah sent him and Cody Williams to Minnesota for Josh Green and cash. The Wolves wanted Williams. Konchar was there to be waived and stretched, about $2.05 million spread over three seasons per ESPN, so Minnesota could open the room it needed to finish the Jonathan Kuminga signing. He was waived a day later.

New York signed him on Sept. 16 to a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 camp deal, after Miami, Orlando and Toronto had also shown interest, and he was seen as a real candidate for a regular-season spot. On Sept. 30 the Knicks waived him. SNY's Ian Begley reported that Konchar had been away from the team that week for a personal matter and that both sides agreed to part ways so he could have more time away. The nature of that matter was not disclosed.

So from late August to the end of September, Konchar belonged to three NBA teams and played for none of them.

Olympiacos' wing opening

Olympiacos are the reigning EuroLeague champions, and they had a hole on the wing. Eurohoops reported the club had not filled the spot Shaquielle McKissic left over the summer, then lost Evan Fournier to injury and had an ongoing situation with Tyler Dorsey. Basketnews framed the signing as a move to steady the roster ahead of Round 7.
