Caitlin Clark went for 34 points and 12 assists Friday, her second straight 30-point, 10-assist game, the first time anyone in WNBA history has stacked those back to back.
Friday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indiana beat Connecticut 111-91. Clark: 34 points, 12 assists, six threes, plus-32 in 34 minutes. Kelsey Mitchell: 34 points of her own. ESPN has the teammate first: same duo with 30-plus in consecutive games, never done before. The WNBA account locked the other first: Aug. 23 at Chicago was 37 and 10; Friday was 34 and 12. Nobody else has ever done that either.

Watch the help, not the highlight reel. Connecticut had to pick a cover and still got neither. Clark and Mitchell scored or assisted on 92 of Indiana's 111, per Elias. That is the third-most in a game in league history. They already set the record Sunday in Chicago with 98. Fourth 30-point duo game this season for them, which ESPN and AP both call a single-season record for any duo.
Mitchell's 34 was her 24th straight 20-point game, a league record, per ESPN, AP, and the Fever. She also passed Briann January for second on the franchise assist list and crossed 1,000 points for the season. Fever notes say she is the second WNBA player to hit 1,000 in a season and the first guard, joining A'ja Wilson. Clark now has six career 30/10 games. The rest of WNBA history has four combined.
Indiana is 26-14. Next tip is Sept. 18 at Toronto after the FIBA World Cup break. This was the last Fever tape for a stretch. The numbers lock. The seed fight waits.
Do not treat Friday like a blowout recap. Two guards just wrote a first the league had never posted, then walked into a three-week pause with the East still watching. Thirty-four and twelve after 37 and ten. That is the argument until September.
