A'ja Wilson won a record fifth Kia WNBA MVP on Thursday, becoming the first player in league history to win it three straight years.

Wilson took 65 of 74 first-place votes and 713 points. She averaged 26.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 32 minutes across 41 games, shooting .527 from the field and .404 from three.

The new parts of her game were the three-pointer and the passing. Her 38 made threes and 3.2 assists were both career highs, per theScore, and she still won her third straight scoring title. Las Vegas had the league's second-ranked offense and scored 21 more points per 100 possessions with her on the floor. She also led the league in blocks at 1.9 for the fifth time in six years, averaged 1.4 steals and finished third in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Lynx rookie Olivia Miles finished second with six first-place votes and 442 points. Indiana's Kelsey Mitchell had two first-place votes and 287 points, Caitlin Clark had one and 212, and Breanna Stewart was fifth with 171. Wilson also won AP Player of the Year in September with 15 of 17 first-place votes, ahead of Miles, Clark and Mitchell.

The award covers the regular season. The Aces trail Golden State 2-0 in the best-of-five semifinals and face elimination in Game 3 on Friday in Las Vegas.

Wilson was drafted first overall in 2018 and has spent her whole career in Las Vegas. TSN noted that a fifth MVP puts her with Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Peyton Manning and Barry Bonds as the only athletes to win at least five.
