Same clip, two rooms: the last Aces check-in and a Sky front office that signed a two-year guard for $1.86 million. You watched nineteen in overtime at Michelob ULTRA Arena, then the tape went quiet.
Chicago Sky guard Skylar Diggins is out the rest of 2026 with a right knee injury after last playing July 3 (19 points in a 98–90 overtime loss at Las Vegas).
She started all 19 of her games and averaged 14.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.9 assists. October knee surgery, then the right knee flared again early in 2026. Diggins spent weeks in Notre Dame PT while Chicago traveled, never got a reserve debut under the minutes restriction, and on Tuesday told reporters she and the Sky medical staff — working with her Notre Dame doctors — decided to scale back and shut it down for the season. Chicago is 15–25, was eliminated from playoff contention Aug. 23, and has four games left when the WNBA returns from the FIBA Women’s World Cup break. GM Jeff Pagliocca put health first and credited the effort she made to get back.

The April signing was two years and $1.86 million ($920K / $940K). Seven-time All-Star. Turned 36 on Aug. 2. 2027 is still on the paper. Tuesday’s call is about shutting the knee down now, not rewriting next summer. Diggins left the offseason open and said she has not asked out of a Sky jersey. Four games left on the board. The July 3 possession is the last one.
